The client is a global asset management company with more than £100 billion (EUR 130 billion / $180 billion) under management for corporations, insurance companies, local and public authorities, charities, pension funds, high net worth individuals and retail investors. With one of the largest networks of offices of any dedicated asset management company and over 330 portfolio managers and analysts covering the world's investment markets, they offer a comprehensive range of products and services.
Business Challenge
To cope with the fast growth of business, the client likes to deliver information to their customer in a timely manner as well as building up the corporate image by using the internet technology. However, since the deployment of their websites, the timely update of information becomes a challenge and costly exercise. Changes of web contents and design with version control are the key factors in the requirements. Approval cycle for web content authoring and audit trail are also needed. Moreover, the system shall support multi-lingual content with centralized management interface.
In additional to static information, dynamic data streaming for prices of financial products, like unit trusts and investment funds, are required to be incorporated on the web. Since the contents will be assessed by the public, the response rate and system loading are also important elements in the system architecture consideration.
Solutions
A Web Content Management System was developed by using Microsoft technology and was deployed to manage 4 websites (first stage) of the company in Asia including, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea and China. The system itself is also web based, all content authoring, editing and approval tools use browser interface only. This avoids installation and increase the friendliness of use. Powered by MS SQL Server and .Net framework, the Content Management System was developed to fit the customer's requirement specifications including version control, workflow integration, dynamic data streaming and hit analysis reports.
