Client Background
The client is a wholly owned subsidiary of a local financial holdings group which has over HK$ 120 Billion of assets. The Group has been proactively expanding its business in Greater China, with the acquisition of finance companies and banks in Hong Kong, Macau and China. The Group has extensive expertise in financial markets, risk management, retail and SME businesses. The Client is a financial services operation with a reputation for pioneering the development of consumer banking, SME lending and bancassurance in Hong Kong.
Business Challenge
To cope with the growth in life insurance market place, the client has largely expanded the sales team in recent years but there is no integrated sales force management system implemented. There are some small individual applications developed on small database systems or spreadsheet to handle some customer information and documents, but far from the satisfaction of the requirements of the growing agents force.
The Client wants to build an advance Sales Force Automation System to handle all related requirements including, sales enquiry, contact management, policy information and generation, agency ordering, sales cases monitoring, sales training management..etc. And the system needs to be run on cross platform: desktop, laptop as well as PDA so as to fulfill the actual needs of the agents. The data shall shared across the management, but agents, as individual business entity, shall be allowed to access restricted information, so data access control and security are a also major considerations in the system design.
Solutions
An integrated Sales force Automation System was developed and deployed on cross platform to the Client with the following major functions :
  • Sales Portal, Sales Enquiry System which include sales productivity
  • Customer Information and Policy information management
  • Agency library for effectively download Forms and reference information
  • Agency Ordering System for ordering sales promotion items and stock administrative systems
  • Customer enquiry system for simple online transactions and retrieve the client and policy information
  • Training system for training and exam enrolment and training administration
  • Life proposal system with full scale proposal generation system for web online and notebook offline access; and simple proposal system for PDA platform
For technical consideration and cost effectiveness, the system was built on J2EE framework, XML and java as the core development language, Oracle 10g DB Server as the Database Server, Apache as the web server, MS Windows Server 2003 as the Operating System.
